Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Asset Management adds to investment management team

SuMi TRUST has appointed Shigeo Mito as director of client services and global business development, based in the firm’s London office.In his new role Mito will focus on cultivating and expanding SuMi TRUST’s European client base, in addition to developing new bespoke products for investors.

 
Mito has over 20 years’ experience in the asset management industry. He started his career at SuMi TRUST in 2000 working in proprietary trading and went on to manage Japanese equity funds from 2008 to 2017. Prior to taking up his current role he worked as an equity investment specialist, collaborating with SuMi TRUST’s client services and business development team in Europe.
 
He holds an MBA from Duke University and a BA in business and commerce from Keio University. He is a CFA charter holder and a Chartered Member of the Security Analysts Association of Japan.
 
Mito says: ‘SuMi TRUST is dedicated to providing specialist investment advice and access to the Japanese stock market for our network of global clients. As one of the largest asset managers in Japan we will continue to strengthen our relationships with existing clients, develop new products to fit current and future needs and to expand our presence internationally.’

His long experience as a Japanese equity portfolio manager and as an investment specialist will further broaden SuMi TRUST’s client service capabilities.’
