US equity funds see USD18bn outflow in week to 25 February

Total estimated outflows from US long-term mutual funds were USD17.08bn for the week to 25 February, according to the Investment Company Institute, based on data covering more than 95 per cent of industry assets.

Equity funds had estimated outflows of USD17.96bn for the week, compared to estimated outflows of USD985m in the previous week. Domestic equity funds had estimated outflows of USD12.38bn, while estimated outflows for foreign equity funds were USD5.58bn.

Hybrid funds, which can invest in stocks and fixed income securities, had estimated outflows of USD2.60bn for the week, compared to estimated outflows of USD361m in the previous week.

Bond funds had estimated inflows of USD3.47bn, compared to estimated inflows of USD4.41bn during the previous week. Taxable bond funds saw estimated inflows of USD2.58bn, while municipal bond funds had estimated inflows of USD886m.

Data for previous weeks reflect revisions due to data adjustments, reclassifications, and changes in the number of funds reporting.
