Warsaw Stock Exchange reports increase in activity

The April 2017 total trade value in Main Market equities on the Warsaw Stock Exchange (GPW) was PLN19.9 billion, representing a 43.8 per cent increase year on year.

The trade value of equities in the Electronic Order Book increased by PLN18.4 billion or 39.9 per cent year on year and the April 2017 average daily trade value of equities in the Electronic Order Book stood at PLN1.0 billion, an increase of 63.2 per cent year on year.
 
At the end of April 2017, the WIG index stood at 61,644.56 points, representing a 29.4 per cent increase year on year.
 
The total trade value of NewConnect equities increased by 22.1 per cent year on year. The trade value of equities in the Electronic Order Book on the GPW alternative market was PLN109.7 million (+16.6 per cent year on year).
 
The April 2017 total derivatives trade volume was 535.4 thousand contracts, representing a 2.1 per cent decrease year on year. The April 2017 index futures trade volume was 325,000 contracts, representing a 0.4 per cent decrease year on year. The single-stock futures trade volume increased by 16.5 per cent year on year to 117,700 contracts.
 
At the end of April 2017, the value of non-Treasury bond issues listed on Catalyst was PLN84.5 billion, representing an 18.6 per cent increase year on year. The trade value of non-Treasury bonds in Catalyst’s Electronic Order Book decreased by 25.4 per cent year on year to PLN148.8 million.
 
The April 2017 total trade value of bonds on TBSP was PLN30.6 billion, representing a 22.5 per cent increase year on year.
 
The April 2017 total volume of gas transactions was 7.3 TWh, representing a 40.9 per cent decrease year on year. The spot market trade volume increased by 6.7 per cent to 2.6 TWh. The April 2017 total volume of spot and forward electricity transactions was 7.9 TWh, representing a 27.3 per cent decrease year on year.
 
The April 2017 volume of spot and forward transactions of property rights to certificates of origin excluding the rights to certificates of energy efficiency (“white certificates”) was 5.7 TWh, representing a 44.5 per cent increase year on year. The April 2017 trade volume of property rights to certificates of origin of energy efficiency was 18.8 ktoe.
 
At the end of April 2017, capitalisation of the 433 Main Market domestic companies was PLN660.6 billion (EUR156.7 billion). At the same time, total capitalisation of the 487 domestic and foreign Main Market companies was PLN1,346 billion (EUR319.1 billion).
 
In April 2017, the GPW Main Market saw two new IPOs. Griffin Premium RE and DINO Polska listed with offerings of PLN508.3 million and PLN1.65 billion respectively. In April 2017, the company M-TRANS was newly listed on NewConnect (issue of PLN1.356 million).
 
GPW held 18 trading sessions in April 2017, 3 more than in April 2016.
