Welcome Life Securities adds institutional trading services to platform

RELATED TOPICS

Welcome Life Securities is offering its institutional trading services to life settlement providers that are interested in selling variable life insurance policies to institutional investors.

“At this time, there is clear guidance that variable life settlement transactions are defined by Finra as a security and by offering this service, we are filling a void in the industry that we are optimistic will help to create better liquidity for this sector of the market,” says John M. Welcom, founder and president.

Welcome Life Securities estimates that less than 30 per cent of life settlement providers are actively purchasing variable policies.

It maintains that such limited purchasing activity is due to significant confusion over how to trade these securities in a compliant manner.

The firm strives to eliminate this procedural uncertainty by providing life settlement investors with a platform which facilitates the trade in compliance with securities regulations.

The life settlement Industry has received an unprecedented amount of media and regulatory attention over the past 30 days. Recent articles preceded the 24 September congressional hearing on life settlements and the announcement of the SEC’s special task force examining the need for securities regulation of life settlement related investments.

Founded in March 2006, Welcome Life Securities was the nation’s first Finra member to operate exclusively in life settlements. The firm provides retail broker-dealers and their registered representatives with life settlement broker services designed to address the regulatory requirements of suitability, best execution, proper disclosure and transparency. Additionally, the firm offers institutional clients interested in longevity related investments with trading, private placements and consulting services.
