Law firm Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson has appointed Alasdair Balfour as a partner in its antitrust practice.
Balfour (pictured) joins on 1 May and will be based in the firm’s London office.
He has extensive experience advising in relation to European Commission and UK antitrust and regulatory investigations across a broad range of industry sectors, with a particular focus on merger control and cartel work.
Balfour was most recently a partner at Olswang in London and previously spent ten years with Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London, Brussels and Washington DC.
"We are delighted that someone with Alasdair’s experience is joining our antitrust practice. Antitrust is a critical component of any large-scale transaction and Alasdair will greatly assist our clients in evaluating and structuring transactions in order to accomplish their objectives," says Valerie Ford Jacob, Fried Frank’s chairperson.
Balfour’s appointment comes seven months after Barry Nigro returned to Fried Frank to head up the firm’s antitrust practice.
