State Street Investment Management (State Street IM) and Van Lanschot Kempen Investment Management (Van Lanschot Kempen) have announced that they are entering into a strategic partnership that will drive further innovation across their respective investment offerings in Europe.

The firms writes that the partnership will see the firms explore opportunities to develop active ETF products, combining Van Lanschot Kempen’s specialist active management capabilities and State Street IM’s ETF capabilities. Also, they will explore opportunities to partner to develop additional solutions for their respective client bases, both in private and public markets, for Wealth Management and Outsourced Chief Investment Officer clients.

Van Lanschot Kempen writes that its position as a leading specialist provider of active strategies in Western Europe, coupled with State Street IM’s status as a global firm with extensive index capabilities, means that both organisations bring complementary expertise. Previously, they worked together successfully on the provision of Liability Driven Investment (LDI) solutions. State Street IM is among the managers supporting Van Lanschot Kempen in hedging FX and interest rate risks as part of integrated balance sheet management for a wide range of clients.

Ann Prendergast, Head of EMEA at State Street Investment Management, says: “Van Lanschot Kempen is known for its innovative solutions and deep market understanding and client focus – which align closely with our own ethos at State Street IM. This collaboration aligns with our strategic aim of partnering with industry leaders to enhance our offerings and deepen our presence in Europe. We’re excited to expand our strong existing relationship with Van Lanschot Kempen and look forward to bringing the results of this partnership to the market.”

Erik van Houwelingen, Member of the Management Board at Van Lanschot Kempen, responsible for Investment Management Clients, says: “State Street IM has a long-standing record of excellence with global reach and depth, and we are pleased to partner with them, combining their scale, distribution, and technology with our own expertise in creating bespoke, innovative investment strategies. This collaboration allows us to offer a broader platform of specialised, responsible active investment strategies and further strengthen the solutions we provide to our fiduciary clients across Europe.”
